Izabel Olson was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Izabel’s lifelong commitment to education includes ten years as a teacher before transitioning to Northwestern where she earned her Ph.D. in the Learning Sciences. As a teacher, Izabel also led the IT department for the British school in Rio and developed the bilingual curriculum to be implemented nationally at Escola Anglo Americano. At Northwestern she explored the link between culture and cognition with low income students in Brazil. Having been an Ashtanga yoga enthusiast for eight years, Izabel earned her teacher training certification from Moksha yoga in Chicago. During a trip to India to deepen her yogic studies, she became conflicted with her faith and yoga passion. After almost quitting yoga, she found Holy Yoga ministries which allowed her to combine her passion for yoga and her love for God. Izabel initially began teaching Holy Yoga to the female inmates at the Cook County Jail in Chicago. However, she longed for the opportunity to work with children again. She signed up for the Kids Holy yoga training where she has been blessed to find a growing ministry where she can be silly, dance around, make weird faces, and love children to God.
